How to review a scanned notice without losing the source
A practical way to read a digitized letter so the next person can see the sentence you relied on.
Start from the page, not the summary
A summary is a proposal. Open the page it cites before you decide the item is urgent, optional, or someone else's problem.
If the scan has no readable text, stop. Do not invent a deadline from the envelope alone.
Write down the sentence
Copy the line that contains the date, amount, or request. Keep the page number next to it.
If two dates appear, list both. Do not collapse them into the one that feels more urgent.
Hand off a decision, not a conclusion
The useful handoff is: who should look, what sentence they should read, and what is still uncertain.
Paying, filing, or telling a customer the matter is closed is a separate human act.
